Associate Pastor Update

Interviewing is actually quite fun! The Cabinet and I have been hard at work reviewing candidates and conducting interviews. There is not exactly a giant line of applicants waiting at the door for an associate pastor role, but God has blessed us with multiple candidates that we have begun exploring. That process will still take some more time and we expect to have no more to report until late-summer/early fall.

In the meantime, we as a congregation can prepare for whoever God sends to us. Remember, our Mission to Reach, Teach, Mend, and Send is all of our mission. We can draw closer to God and our mission is a bunch of different ways. Here are a few...

Back in May we invited you to participate in the mission through a commitment to give. That month we surpassed our weekly need which showed how eager you are to participate in this mission. What an exciting thing! Check out the cool chart!

Now, we need to sustain that work. This pastor will help to lead us in the ways we engage in Discipleship, Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Hospitality. As we consistently give, we build up the funds that will not only pay their salary, but fund the tools we will all need in order to do the work. I am confident God will provide as he always does. Might he want you to draw closer in this way?

We don't need to wait for an Associate Pastor to start drawing closer to God with out time and abilities. Perhaps you know someone who would make a great small group leader, who would be able to bring a group out for ice cream on Tuesday nights, or teach a cooking class on Thursdays, or go to the movies together on Saturday nights. Be creative! There are so many ways to allow God to transform your weekly activities into ministry that helps to accomplish our mission together here at Valley Chapel. Perhaps the person is your friend, or perhaps it is you? If the Spirit is nudging, then there is no need to wait! You can start your Small group leader training right now.

When you participate and invite others to participate with you, the good news about Jesus spreads and our mission as believers is accomplished. You can start today by coming to the VBS volunteer training tonight at 6:00, or this Friday you could visit the quilt Group. Next Monday you can join Marsha Kersch for a bible study and next Wednesday you can join the guys for a guys night in the backyard. There are so many ways to draw closer to Jesus right away. I pray whatever you do will truly draw you closer to the creator and sustainer of all.
