WITH Ministry at Valley Chapel

As Free Methodists, one of our core values is Cross-Cultural Collaboration: connecting with Christians of different cultures to expand our view of the Kingdom of God and encourage each other on our mission. At Valley Chapel, we call this WITH Ministry, because we go with our brothers and sisters, not for them or to them. 

It is not about what we do FOR others, it is about what we can only do WITH others.

This is not charity work, where we do things for people who can't do them for themselves. It is also not mission tourism, which is sightseeing with a Jesus sticker slapped on it. WITH Ministry is about building relationships across cultural lines for the good of our whole church community.

Travelers are cross-cultural ambassadors. You will be put in environments that push you out of your comfort zone. You will need flexibility and adaptability, and you will need to set your own agenda aside for the careful, diplomatic, spiritual work of building relationships across language and culture.

This is a long-term commitment. Valley Chapel is trusting this team to return as leaders of cross-cultural connection, not to simply receive personal enrichment. You'll take initiative in guiding ministries here and keep up consistent communication with our partners in Ecuador.
